Description

In this sculpture, the artist explores the plurality of the roles constituting the modern identity. Koegler’s comprehensive aesthetic statement applies the nineteenth-century expression “wearing many hats” metaphorically to our contemporary society in which performing too many roles simultaneously can quickly become an overwhelming enterprise. This is the case of the sitter who reflects on his duties and responsibilities while observing the different hats spread around him. For the sculptor, art is a universal and transcendent language by which she can share her beliefs and life experiences with her audience.
