Nine Color Stone

The name Nine Color Stone first appears in the ancient Chinese chronicle Weilüe, a historical record from the Three Kingdoms period. Though the original text has been lost, its meaning survives through annotations in the Records of the Three Kingdoms, which describe the remote Yiwushan Mountains as the source of a rare “nine-colored jade-like stone” — said to contain hues of blue, red, yellow, white, black, green, purple, crimson, and deep indigo. Over time, these stones came to be known collectively as “Nine Color Stone,” symbolizing rare beauty, the power of transformation, and the resonance of cultural fusion. This ancient image continues to reflect the spirit and artistic vision that guide our work today. ​​ Founded in Beijing in 1993, Nine Color Stone has grown over three decades into a full-spectrum studio, integrating design, fabrication, construction, logistics, and installation. With a mission to create works of art and ensure engineering excellence, we remain rooted in a commitment to quality, precision, and integrity. Our projects aim not only to enhance public and architectural space, but to carry enduring cultural and aesthetic meaning. Today, Nine Color Stone’s works are commissioned and collected by institutions, municipalities, and private clients across continents. ​ In 2017, the company expanded its scope and now operates through two distinct divisions: ​ Nine Color Stone Studio Based in the historic stone-carving town of Quyang, Hebei Province, our studio division handles the entire lifecycle of a sculptural project — from conceptual design and clay modeling to stone and metal processing, refinement, and installation. Our facilities are staffed by seasoned artists, engineers, and craftsmen capable of realizing monumental works with exceptional precision. ​ We work in stone, bronze, and mixed media — serving public art commissions globally and fulfilling bespoke requests for private collectors. ​​ Nine Color Stone Gallery Located in Beijing, China and Palm Beach County, Florida, the gallery was established as an open, experimental platform for contemporary art. Supported by international networks including the Central Academy of Fine Arts (Beijing) and the École des Beaux-Arts (Paris), the gallery cultivates emerging artists, organizes curated exhibitions, and participates in leading art fairs. ​ We remain committed to presenting and collecting contemporary works that speak to the spirit of our time with lasting beauty and significance.
