Yunior’s work talks about a growing disconnect between who we present as, through our actions, fashion, who and what we support, what an artist chooses to create etc., versus who we truly are. We are surrounded by comment, bombarded by it, day in and day out. Represented here by grenades flying in, together with roses – two extremes of a spectrum of the input to which we are all subjected. Yunior applies a very contemporary lens to the question of what truly makes us who we are. Are we the person we show the world? The person we hide from the world? The person we hide even from ourselves? A mix of all of them?
